Paraplegia for 20 years is very difficult to recover due to the large damage to the neuromuscular junction. Even for incomplete damage due to the long time, the possibility of recovery is very small, but the quality of life can be improved through some rehabilitation training. Paraplegic rehabilitation includes muscle strength training, sitting up and turning over training, standing up training, walking training and so on.
1. Plyometric training: focusing on the training of deltoid, latissimus dorsi, scapular and upper limb muscles, in order to prepare for the use of wheelchair and walking with crutches. During the recovery period, we do lumbar back muscle training, assisted by the rehabilitator to do single bridge and double bridge training, which helps to balance the body, and in the later period, we should try to encourage the disabled muscles of the lower limbs to do active movement, and gradually increase the resistance movement.
2. Sit up and turn over training: including a variety of transfer movements, balance, in order to complete the transfer (bed a wheelchair) movement must be sitting stable, to achieve the three levels of sitting parallel, while strengthening the bracing action exercises. Including up and down the wheelchair, drive the wheelchair.
3. Standing training: leaning on the bed to stand, tilting plate standing position training, to achieve the reconstruction of the sense of balance. Standing in the standing platform and standing in the balance bar, pay attention to the change of blood pressure during the training, if you find cold sweat, dizziness should be stopped immediately.
4. Walking training: According to different parts and degrees of injury, different rehabilitation goals should be set. According to the walking prognosis of paraplegic patients, the training includes standing and walking training within the balance bar, practicing balance and standing with axillary-type crutches, practicing walking and changing directions on flat surfaces; walking on uneven surfaces, going up and down stairs, going up and down slopes, and teaching the patients to fall down and get up again safely.
After paraplegia, patients should go to regular hospitals for rehabilitation treatment as early as possible, so as not to miss the best time for rehabilitation and delay their condition.
