What does high HCG mean?

High HCG mainly represents normal pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, gravida, endocrine disease or tumor. 1. Normal pregnancy: HCG is produced by the trophoblast cells of the placenta, and it starts to rise persistently 6 days after fertilization, doubles every other day, and gradually decreases after 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy. 2. Ectopic pregnancy: the most common site is the fallopian tube, the thin muscle layer of the fallopian tube, the trophoblast cells are poorly developed, the secretion of HCG is lower than the normal intrauterine pregnancy in the same period of time, if the HCG rise is slow for 2 consecutive examinations, it is necessary to be vigilant against the ectopic pregnancy or the abnormal development of the fetus. 3. Chylothorax: abnormal increase in the number of placental trophoblast cells, the formation of blisters of different sizes, without the formation of a normal embryo, will secrete a large amount of HCG. 4. Endocrine diseases or tumors: endocrine hormone disorders or tumors can lead to HCG indirectly elevated, commonly found in pituitary diseases, hyperthyroidism, ovarian choriocarcinoma and so on. In conclusion, if HCG is found to be elevated, it is recommended to carry out standardized examination in time to clarify whether you are pregnant or not and exclude malignant diseases.
