When a child has a fever but does not sweat, it may be due to thermoregulatory dysfunction, as the body will cool down through sweating when the body temperature is abnormal. When the child’s body temperature rises without corresponding sweating, it can be considered that there is an abnormality in the hypothalamic temperature centre, which can be caused by brain underdevelopment, cranial injury or haemorrhage, hypernatraemia, heat stroke, etc.
