There are three main types of glaucoma surgery; reducing atrial fluid production, unblocking the atrial fluid circulation, and creating a new pathway for atrial fluid outflow. The duration of surgery varies according to the type of surgery, mostly within one hour.
1. Reduce atrial water production: including ciliary body condensation, ciliary body photocoagulation, etc., by destroying the ciliary body itself and its blood vessels, to achieve the purpose of reducing atrial water production. The operation takes less than 40 minutes.
2. Release the blockage of atrial water circulation: including trabeculotomy and plasty, peripheral iridotomy, etc. The operation time is 40 minutes to 1 hour.
3. Establishing a new aqueous humor outflow pathway: This includes establishing a new pathway between the anterior and posterior chambers and establishing a new extraocular aqueous humor outflow pathway. Surgical time is 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Glaucoma surgery time is relatively short, but the recovery time is relatively long, the specific time varies from person to person, need to follow the doctor’s instructions for follow-up visits and eye ointment.
