Bile acid levels tend to be elevated in some pregnant women during pregnancy, and this is related to endocrine conditions, including the enterohepatic circulation of bile. The enterohepatic circulation of bile acids tends to increase as the pregnancy lengthens and the levels of bile acids that may be elevated increase. But some people tend to be asymptomatic and don’t need any special treatment, just regular checkups. But some pregnant women have much elevated levels of bile acids and develop cholestasis, which may even cause itchy symptoms. If the symptoms are more obvious, medication can be used to intervene. When itching or other discomfort occurs, the patient should be seen in time and evaluated for medication based on a systematic examination. Because of the inconvenience of taking medication during pregnancy and the fear of its effect on the fetus, mildly elevated bile acids are not a cause for concern and should be reviewed regularly.
