Difference between laryngeal cancer and pharyngitis in women

There are certain differences between female laryngeal cancer and pharyngitis in terms of causes, symptoms, treatments and prognosis. 1. Causes: female laryngeal cancer is mostly considered to be related to smoking, viral infection, environmental factors, family history, etc. Acute pharyngitis may be due to bacterial, viral and other pathogens’ infection, and is also related to dust, smoke, irritating gases, etc. Chronic pharyngitis, on the other hand, may be due to repeated episodes of acute pharyngitis, spicy food, smoking and alcohol. Chronic pharyngitis, on the other hand, may be caused by repeated attacks of acute pharyngitis, spicy food, tobacco and alcohol. 2. Symptoms: Patients with laryngeal cancer may manifest hoarseness, difficulty in swallowing, neck lumps, etc. Acute pharyngitis usually has burning, pain and discomfort in swallowing, and is accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever. In case of chronic pharyngitis, foreign body sensation in pharynx and secretion are not easy to cough out. 3. Treatment: Surgery is the first choice for laryngeal cancer after diagnosis, and patients who are not suitable for surgery can be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Patients with pharyngitis usually use antibiotics or chlorhexidine and other medicines to gargle, in addition, they have to get rid of the irritating environment. 4. Prognosis: The prognosis of early laryngeal cancer is relatively good with positive treatment, and the 5-year survival rate can reach about 70%, while the survival period of patients with distant metastasis in late stage is greatly shortened. Pharyngitis generally does not affect the life expectancy of patients, but the recurrence of chronic pharyngitis may have the risk of cancer. It is recommended that patients should consult the doctor in time if they have any discomfort, and make a clear diagnosis after complete examination and active treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
