There are many causes of nystagmus, which can be classified as perceptually defective or motion-deficient nystagmus. Perceptually defective nystagmus is mainly caused by the macular imaging problem due to the eye’s own pathology, and is commonly caused by refractive interstitial clouding, such as corneal dystrophy, congenital cataract, optic nerve or macular disease, and so on. Also high refractive error, albinism, aniridia, and total color blindness can result. The main cause of nystagmus is in the efferent nerve channel, which may involve the nerve center, or the isotropic eye control pathway, but there is no abnormal change in the appearance of the eye, so the symptoms need to be seen at the hospital ophthalmology clinic, and optical correction or surgery can be considered, but the results are not satisfactory.
