What to do if your baby doesn’t pass the hearing screening in the right ear

In addition to hearing impairment, babies may not pass the hearing screening due to a variety of factors such as the influence of retained fetal fat, amniotic fluid and secretions in the external ear canal, or the baby’s inability to cooperate well, or loud noise in the environment. If your baby does not pass the hearing screening, you should take him/her for a re-screening as prescribed by the doctor. If your baby does not pass the screening, you should take him/her to a hearing impaired clinic as soon as possible. When hearing impairment is diagnosed, it is best to start hearing rehabilitation for your baby as early as three months of age.
