The difference between the obliques and the pectoralis minor lies in the different locations, different starting and ending points, and different functions. 1. Different parts: the obliques are located on both sides of the neck and are symmetrically distributed. Each side from front to back are anterior, middle and posterior oblique muscles. The pectoralis minor muscle is located in the deep layer of the pectoralis major muscle, which is a triangular flat muscle. 2. Different starting and ending points: the anterior, middle and posterior obliques are located in the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae on both sides of the nodes, and the muscles and fibers run obliquely outward and downward, stopping at the upper edge of the first and second ribs, respectively. The pectoralis minor muscle starts from the 3rd to 5th ribs and stops at the rostral eminence of the scapula. 3. Functions are different: the function of obliques is mainly neck ipsilateral flexion, contralateral rotation, forward flexion, etc.; lifting up the 1st and 2nd ribs, helping to lift up the thorax, and assisting in inhalation. The functions of the pectoralis minor muscle are mainly to make the scapula do forward extension, descent and downward rotation when the proximal end of the pectoralis minor muscle is fixed; when the distal end of the pectoralis minor muscle is fixed, it can lift up the ribcage to help inhalation.
