How to treat chicken pox in children

Chickenpox is a self-limiting disease, children with chickenpox without comorbidities to the general treatment and symptomatic treatment. 1. General treatment: patients need to be isolated, strengthen the hygiene care, such as changing underwear, cut the child’s nails, wear gloves to prevent scratching and reduce secondary infections. Open windows more often to maintain air circulation. Drink more water and try to eat easily digestible food. 2. Symptomatic treatment: Commonly used drugs include antibiotics, wipes, antiviral drugs, interferon and so on. (1) Antibiotics: e.g. cefotazole, cefdinir, etc. are used to prevent and treat secondary infections. (2) Erasers: e.g., glycerite lotion, used to relieve itching of the skin. (3) Antiviral drugs: such as acyclovir, used to promote healing and shorten the duration of chickenpox. Intravenous administration is needed for severe cases. (4) Interferon: e.g. alpha-interferon is used to fight the virus and promote healing. If a child is diagnosed with chickenpox, the child should be isolated as soon as possible, and children who have been in contact with him/her need to be isolated for observation and treatment as prescribed by the doctor. Specific medication should be prescribed by the doctor.
