Varicose veins may cause soreness and pain in the legs, the pain is mainly distension, because varicose veins will cause obstruction of venous blood return, resulting in venous blood reflux from deep veins to superficial veins, and the blood from superficial veins is not able to smoothly return to deep veins, so this will lead to venous blood stagnation, and the pressure in the veins increases, which will further damage the valves in the veins over time. This leads to thinning of the vein walls and thickening of the vessels, and the venous blood penetrates into the subcutaneous tissue, causing swelling of the legs. This swelling and pain is further aggravated after activity, so varicose veins can cause swelling and pain in the legs, which needs to be differentiated from arterial system diseases and pain caused by lumbar spine diseases. If varicose veins are the cause of leg pain, comprehensive treatment of varicose veins is required to relieve the patient’s symptoms.
