Cystic nodules of the thyroid gland are nodules with not only solid but also cystic components. Most of them are benign diseases, most commonly cystic nodules of nodular goiter, especially two-lobed, multi-lobed cystic nodules. However, thyroid adenomas also have cystic changes, thyroid cancer also has a certain rate of cystic changes, and papillary thyroid cancer has a cystic change rate of about 20%. Therefore, cystic nodules in the thyroid gland are not necessarily all benign, but may also be malignant. Generally, benign, asymptomatic and small thyroid nodules do not require special treatment and can be observed. Larger nodules with symptoms of pressure, or after ultrasound or CT imaging and physical examination, the possibility of malignant nodules should be treated surgically.
