What does TAA mean?

TAA is a tumor-associated antigen.

Tumor antigen refers to a general term for neoantigens that appear in the process of cell carcinogenesis, and antigenic substances that are abnormally or overexpressed by tumor cells. It is divided into tumor-associated antigen and tumor-specific antigen.

Tumor-associatde-antigen (TAA) has no strict tumor specificity. Tumor-associatde-antigen can be expressed in both normal and tumor cells, with stronger expression on tumor cells than on normal cells.

Most of the tumor antigens found in humans so far are TAA, and antigens such as embryonic antigen, glycoprotein antigen, and squamous cell antigen belong to this type of antigen.

Tumor-specific-antigen (TSA) is more specific and exists mostly in the form of peptides. It is expressed only in tumor cells and not in normal tissues.

If abnormalities of tumor-specific-antigen occur, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for further examination and treatment.
