What does Xuemo’s nodule mean?

Hsu-Mo nodes are not a common clinical condition in spine surgery and are a sign that degeneration of the lumbar spine is beginning to occur. The degeneration occurs because the lumbar spine carries most of the body’s weight. A Hirschsprung’s nodule is a condition in which the cartilage plate of the vertebral body becomes damaged and the nucleus pulposus can enter the body through a gap in the vertebral body. If the nucleus pulposus does not cause inflammation, the patient may not have significant symptoms and may not require treatment. If inflammation occurs and the patient’s nerves are compressed, the pain in the lower back will be noticeable and will become intense especially after activity. If the patient feels increased pain, he/she should go to a regular hospital for X-ray or CT to find out the cause and take surgery or other effective treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
