The lack of clarity at near places in cataract patients is usually related to the cataract condition itself or presbyopia if it occurs before the surgery; if it occurs after the surgery, it may be caused by the inability of the monofocal IOL implanted inside the eye to change the position of the focal point. Cataract patients may experience vision loss due to the cataract condition prior to surgery, with blurred vision both at a distance and up close, especially when looking up close. If the patient is also suffering from presbyopia, the clarity will be further reduced. Patients who experience vision loss due to cataracts will generally experience an effective improvement in their vision after surgical treatment. However, for patients with monofocal IOLs, which help to see at a distance, the vision will still be unclear when seeing near, mainly because monofocal IOLs are unable to change the position of the focal point, so there is no way to accurately focus the near scene on the retina. For patients with multifocal and bifocal IOLs, the vision is usually clear when seeing at a distance as well as when seeing near. Patients with cataracts who cannot see near clearly should seek medical attention in time to identify the specific cause under the guidance of the doctor and undergo treatment.
