What to do with the swelling of the upper eyelid of the right eye

Swelling of the upper eyelid of the right eye may be due to a bacterial infection that causes blepharitis and may usually be accompanied by pain. Antibacterial medications, such as levofloxacin or tobramycin drops, may be used, as well as a combination of antibiotic ointments, such as gatifloxacin ophthalmic gel or ofloxacin ophthalmic ointment. If the swelling is large or painful, oral antibiotics can also be given, but only if there is no allergy, usually cephalosporin or amoxicillin can be taken. After combined oral treatment with local anti-inflammatory medication, the redness and pain can still be gradually eliminated.
