If the patient is examined to have hearing loss, there are probably the following clinical procedures. If the patient has atresia, plastic surgery for atresia can be done so that sound can be conducted to the tympanic membrane and inner ear in a smooth manner, thus improving the patient’s hearing. If the patient has cerumen impaction in the ear canal, the cerumen can be removed, which can also improve the patient’s hearing. If the patient has otitis media or a perforated eardrum, tympanic membrane repair surgery with tympanoplasty as soon as possible can also improve the patient’s hearing. If the patient is diagnosed with neurologic deafness and hearing loss, the clinical treatment can be used to improve hearing with nutritive nerve, vasodilator drugs, as well as hormonal drugs. If the patient is congenital hearing loss, drug treatment is ineffective, can be fitted with hearing aids, can effectively improve the patient’s hearing. For some children with congenital hearing loss, cochlear implant surgery can also be performed if hearing aids are not effective.
