Heritability of spina bifida

Spina bifida is somewhat hereditary, and studies have confirmed that the incidence increases to 2%-3% in those with a prior history of spinal bulging births; 6%-8% with two. The risk of spina bifida is also increased in close family members, such as siblings with a history of spina bifida, especially in the maternal line. Because spina bifida is a type of spina bifida, spina bifida is hereditary. There is also an increased incidence during periods of war, famine and economic hardship, but the incidence gradually decreases after the war. Inheritance follows a non-Mendelian law of inheritance and may be multifactorial. Prenatal folic acid supplementation can reduce the heritability of spina bifida.
