γγ”Balanced blocking” therapy is applicable to the early prevention of bone metastasis of various tumors and the active treatment of bone metastasis already occurred, and is of great significance in preventing pathological fractures and improving the quality of life.γγIt is generally believed that bone metastases caused by breast cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer are the most common, followed by thyroid cancer, kidney cancer and nasopharyngeal cancer. Among bone metastases, spine is more common than extremities, and lumbar and thoracic vertebrae are common metastatic sites. Metastases to long bones of extremities are mostly seen proximally, while distal and end of extremities are rarely metastasized, and tumors of different sites often have unique metastatic sites, such as thyroid cancer easily metastasizes to cervical vertebrae, cervical and prostate cancer easily metastasizes to pelvis and lumbar vertebrae, and multiple myeloma often metastasizes to skull. In terms of the time of metastasis, small cell lung cancer, choriocapillary epithelial cancer and osteogenic sarcoma can metastasize very early, while salivary gland cancer and basal cell carcinoma rarely metastasize early. The symptoms of metastases are also different. Metastases in the vertebral body are mostly valued for pain and paraplegia, while multiple metastases in the skull are often undetected because they are asymptomatic. Understanding the pattern of bone metastases can help improve clinical outcomes.
