Why do you get Crohn’s disease?

Crohn’s disease is an unfamiliar term to most Chinese people, and even to most Chinese doctors. First of all, when we hear the name, it is a “foreign name”, and it can be said that this disease is also an “import” brought by the reform and opening up, economic development, and changes in the habits of the Chinese people. In the economically underdeveloped 70’s and 80’s, it was very difficult to see Crohn’s disease patients in China, but with the development of the economy, the disease spectrum in our country slowly began to change to the Western countries, and Crohn’s disease is becoming more and more common. After the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, many people ask their doctors, and themselves, over and over again, why me? Why do I have this disease? What will happen if I get this disease? Today, we will discuss this issue together. First of all, the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease is very complex, and it is difficult to explain it with a single cause. Environmental factors: including environmental pollution, improper diet may be related to him; genetic factors: genetic polymorphisms brought from your mother and father may be related to him; drug factors: antibiotic abuse leading to intestinal flora disorders, oral contraceptives and other drug-induced may also be related to him; personal factors: smoking, poor lifestyle habits, etc. may also be related. After saying so many possible factors, in fact, it indicates a key problem, that is, we still have not been able to finally discover the key etiology of the onset of Crohn’s disease, which is also a problem that has not been solved by the medical community. Therefore, patients with Crohn’s disease do not need to blame themselves, the disease and your “past” is not so strong correlation. In the clinic, I have encountered a variety of patients, including sales elites who are “smoking, drinking, tea, staying up all night and working hard”, university professors who pay close attention to health, elderly people who are entering their ears, and babies who are just one year old, why God would let everyone suffer from this disease, no one knows except God. So is Crohn’s disease scary? Is it incurable for life? Is it the “green cancer” that everyone is talking about? First of all, we must throw a pot of cold water on you, under the current medical condition, Crohn’s disease can not be cured. However, if we think about it differently, is it rare to find incurable diseases in our daily life? Let me give you some examples: hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hepatitis B, chronic nephritis, etc. All these diseases are incurable, so it is not the end of the world to suffer from incurable diseases. Secondly, from the experience of more than 10 years in the treatment of Crohn’s disease, Crohn’s disease is not terrible at all as long as the disease activity is well controlled. We are confident that we can help every Crohn’s disease patient to live a normal and happy life. Current medical research shows that, with good medical care, the life expectancy of Crohn’s disease patients is not significantly different from that of normal people! Crohn’s disease itself is not cancerous, nor does it grow tumors!
