Does limited iris melanoma metastasize?

Restricted iris melanoma does not metastasize in the early stages of the disease; metastasis, commonly intracranial, occurs in the later stages of the disease. Restricted iris melanoma is a type of iris melanoma, a rare malignant tumor that occurs in the melanocytes within the iris stroma. Whether or not metastasis occurs in limited iris melanoma is related to the stage of the disease. If the disease is present in the early stages, metastasis does not occur and the patient is usually asymptomatic, mostly noticing a change in the color of the iris or a dark spot on the iris. In the late stage of the disease, distant metastasis may occur, commonly intracranial metastasis, and patients will have headache, hemiplegic aphasia, sensory impairment, vertigo, vomiting and other symptoms, and some patients will develop anterior uveitis, anterior chamber hemorrhage, and glaucoma due to necrosis of the tumor in the late stage of the disease. For patients with limited iris melanoma, once diagnosed, they need to be treated in time to avoid delaying the disease and causing greater impact on themselves.
