Bear bile does not usually affect kidney function.
Bear bile is the gall bladder of the bear family, the black or brown bear. According to Chinese medicine, bear bile has the effect of clearing the liver and improving eyesight, clearing heat and removing toxins, killing insects and stopping bleeding. What adverse reactions may result from the use of bear bile is not yet clear, but there are no reports of bear bile affecting the function of the liver and kidneys in clinical application, so bear bile is not generally considered to affect the function of the liver and kidneys.
However, bear bile is a Chinese medicine and should be identified by a Chinese medicine practitioner before use. If the patient’s liver and kidney functions are not good, he should first consult his doctor when taking bear bile or drugs containing bear bile.
