Clear urine like water does not necessarily mean uremia, but normal urine can also appear to be clear. In normal people, urine is clear and slightly yellow. Uremia is mainly due to the decrease in glomerular filtration rate, which is unable to remove metabolic waste from the body, manifested by elevated creatinine and urea. Uremic patients usually lose more than 90% of their kidney function, and the metabolic wastes in their bodies cannot be excreted smoothly through the kidneys, so the color of their urine is not significantly different from that of normal people, and it is difficult to distinguish them by the naked eye. As the disease continues to progress, patients with uremia will eventually become anuric. Some patients with uremia may have more red blood cells in their urine, which in turn may lead to visual hematuria, or protein in their urine and increased urine foam. Therefore, clear urine like water can be seen in patients with uremia and can also be normal. If there is foam in the urine or if there is hematuria, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a routine urine test to clarify the cause.
