What’s wrong with your eyes when you wake up from sleep?

Eye boogers may be caused by physiological reasons or diseases such as dacryocystitis or keratitis. 1. Physiological reasons: there are some glands in the normal eye structure, which can secrete oil into the conjunctival sac to maintain the moistness of the eye surface. After sleeping, the eyes are closed all the time so it will gather in the corner of the eye, and eye droppings can appear after getting up from sleep. 2. Dacryocystitis: due to the narrowing or blockage of the nasolacrimal duct, leading to the accumulation of tears, bacteria multiply and cause dacryocystitis. It can be manifested as symptoms such as pus flowing from the tear ducts, overflow of tears, etc. It may also be accompanied by purulent secretion and more eye droppings. 3. Keratitis: Mostly due to corneal lesions or pathogen infection, causing inflammation of the cornea. It can be manifested as redness and swelling of the eyes, photophobia, tearing and other symptoms, accompanied by an increase in eye droppings. When you sleep with eye droppings and other discomforts, it is recommended that you consult a doctor for a further examination, to identify the cause and to carry out targeted treatment or therapy with the help of the doctor.
