What are the advantages of laparoscopic surgery for GERD?

Surgery can eliminate the cause of GERD, thus the treatment is more complete, with rapid effect and low recurrence rate, and most patients have disappeared or improved significantly after surgery, and no longer need medication. According to foreign reports, the efficiency of surgery is up to 95%, and it is also effective for those patients who are ineffective or unsatisfied with drug treatment. The mainstream surgery is laparoscopic fundoplication, which only requires 4-5 small 0.5-1 cm incisions on the abdominal wall, with mild postoperative pain, no need for painkillers for patients, little trauma, fast recovery, and generally 2-3 days postoperative discharge, with only a few small inconspicuous scars on the abdominal wall in the future, not affecting the appearance, and relatively similar to the laparoscopic cholecystectomy we are familiar with.
