What are the discomforts of urodynamic testing

Urodynamic tests may be associated with discomfort such as urinary frequency, urgency, and hematuria.

The urodynamic test is based on the basic principles and methods of urofluid mechanics and electrophysiology, and assesses the function of the urinary tract in the drainage of urine by detecting the pressure, flow rate, and bioelectrical activity of the various parts of the urinary tract. It can be used to identify whether dyspareunia is caused by weakness of the urethral muscles or by increased urethral resistance.

The procedure requires the use of urethral and anal pressure testing tubes, which may cause local tissue discomfort due to intrusion of foreign objects. As the pelvic floor and periurethral nerves are stimulated, it is possible to induce symptoms such as frequent urination, urinary urgency, painful urination, urgency, hematuria and bloody stools.

Usually recover after a few days, but if the symptoms persist, it is not excluded that the test tube damages the tissue epithelium, and it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for examination and corresponding treatment.
