Difference between pemphigus and pemphigoid

There are differences between pemphigus and pemphigoid in terms of etiology, age of onset, lesion characteristics, treatment and prognosis. 1. Etiology: both pemphigus and pemphigoid belong to organ-specific, autoimmune herpetic diseases, but the two antigenic structures occur in different places. The antigenic component of pemphigus itself exists in the bridging granules; whereas the main antigenic structure of pemphigus-like pemphigoid is mainly the basement membrane band located between the epidermis and the dermis. 2. Age of onset: pemphigus is most common in young and middle-aged people, and the population is relatively young; while pemphigus-like pemphigoid is most common in middle-aged and old-aged people, and the age group of onset is relatively large. 3. Lesion characteristics: the lesions of pemphigus vary in size, the blister wall is relatively thin, easy to break, and the wound is not easy to heal after breaking, often involving the mucous membrane; and pemphigus-like pemphigus is mainly for the blister wall is relatively thick, relatively tense blisters or blisters, the wound is relatively easy to heal after the blister breaks, and usually does not involve the mucous membrane. 4. Treatment and prognosis: the treatment of pemphigus and pemphigoid, the first choice of drugs are glucocorticosteroids such as prednisone, etc., but the dosage of pemphigoid is relatively small, and the treatment cycle is also shorter, overall, the prognosis of pemphigoid is relatively better. Pemphigus and pemphigoid may also be different in other aspects, patients with symptoms of pemphigus or pemphigoid should consult a doctor in a timely manner, by a professional doctor for differential diagnosis, early treatment, so as not to affect the prognosis.
