Acupuncture points that can replenish yang qi are commonly used, such as the Life Gate and Guanyuan points. 1. Vital point is from “Acupuncture and Moxibustion A Yi Jing” and belongs to the acupuncture point of the Directing Vessel. It is located in the spinal region, in the depression below the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra, on the posterior midline. Its function is to benefit the kidneys and strengthen the yang, clear heat and calm the mind, and regulate the Chong Ren. It is used for treating strong pain in the lumbar spine, impotence and paralysis of the lower limbs (weakness, numbness and pain in the lower limbs), menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, menstrual occlusion, infertility, ejaculation, impotence, infertility with coldness of the spermatozoa, frequent urination, coldness and pain in the abdomen, and diarrhea. 2. Guanyuan Point belongs to Ren Chakra, also known as Sanjiejiao, Xiaji, Jimen, Dantian, Dazhongji. It is located in the lower abdomen, 3 inches below the umbilicus, on the front center line. Its effects are to tonify the kidney and cultivate the vital energy, and to warm the yang to consolidate detachment. It can treat stroke and detachment, lethargy and weakness, pain in the lesser abdomen, hernia, diarrhea, dysentery, prolapse of the anus, blood in the stool, frequent urination, spermatorrhea, impotence, premature ejaculation, leucorrhoea (cloudy urine like white slurry), menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, metrorrhagia, and leucorrhoea.
