Can photorejuvenation make people look younger?

We often encounter this situation: some women in their thirties come to our department, and after seeing them and not finding anything wrong, we ask them what they are doing here. They say they will say they ask for cosmetic treatment with TCM. I tend to say, “You are already beautiful, why do you need cosmetic treatment? They have all sorts of ideas and different experiences, but they all like to torment their faces and end up with zombie faces. Today I met two such patients. One of them is very talkative, thirty years old, claiming to be the sister of the other patient, but I look obviously not the two sisters. They both looked very fashionable, dressed fashionably, makeup fashionable. They sat down to see the patient and without saying a word, told me to see for myself what was wrong with her. I didn’t see anything for half a day, so I asked what was wrong with you, tell me so I could deal with it. These two people still do not say a word, sitting there. I said you do not say I call the next patient ha. This time there is a patient said to do Chinese medicine beauty. I again surveyed two people: a beautiful body plus a standard melon face, except for the face with common melasma, and not the same. Besides, it is normal for a thirty-year-old woman to have some melasma on her face. I said, “Your face looks fine, why do you still want beauty treatment? At this point, they started to tell their story: they started tossing this face since they were 20 years old, first they had their chin fixed, then they had their skin rejuvenated, and finally they had their blackheads removed at the beauty salon and went to Korea to fix their pores. Now I still feel that I am not beautiful, but because of the hyaluronic acid played in the early stage after feeling their facial muscles do not move flexibly, I always feel like a zombie face. At this time I looked closely at their faces and it was really not very coordinated when smiling or talking, and there was a big problem with muscle laxity. Another girl had photorejuvenation and her skin did not become tender, and as a result, her original clean face was full of spots. The reason why I didn’t see what was going on was because of the thick powder on her face that covered it up. To be honest, every time I see a patient with heavy makeup coming to see a doctor, regardless of gender, I have a feeling of resistance. A good face, what to toss? Which of them had plastic surgery? When they don’t tell enough stories, I interrupt them and ask them what they want to do. They also insisted that they wanted Chinese beauty treatment, saying that it would be very safe. I said, although you now have problems on your face, such as muscle problems and discoloration left by previous beauty treatments, but I can not do anything about it. If you take herbal medicine, you probably can’t solve it, so in a responsible manner, I don’t recommend taking herbal medicine, it’s not effective and a waste of money. They said, “We are not poor in money, as long as there is effect, it is good. After I sent these two patients away, I wondered in my heart why girls are so keen on beauty nowadays. Why don’t they improve themselves from within and become wiser? Here is a brief introduction to photorejuvenation. The so-called photorejuvenation is actually the use of intense pulsed light, commonly known as “photons”, to improve skin discoloration and redness, as well as to improve the skin’s luster and texture. Simply put, it uses intense pulsed light to penetrate deep into the skin and selectively act on the pigments and blood vessels in the skin to break down pigmentation and close abnormal capillaries without damaging the normal skin, thus achieving the effect of treating pigmentation and capillary dilation. At the same time, the energy of intense pulsed light can also stimulate subcutaneous collagen growth, so that the original collagen tissue reorganization, thereby achieving the effect of shrinking pores and restoring skin luster and elasticity. This is a professional explanation, it is normal to not understand. Because photorejuvenation is relatively easy to operate and the treatment is quite effective, it is welcomed by everyone. However, not all skin can be rejuvenated by photorejuvenation, there are strict indications. The simple point is that common tanned skin cannot be rejuvenated with photorejuvenation; and skin that is allergic to light is strictly forbidden to use photorejuvenation. It is also not possible to use photorejuvenation for patients with scarring or skin inflammation. Photorejuvenation is a good thing, but the problem is that it is now too popular. Even some beauty stores that do not have any license are making a lot of noise under the banner of photonic skin rejuvenation. And such places are come-ons, and anyone can rejuvenate once, in any situation. The key thing is that some beauty stores do not limit the number of times you can do it, giving the illusion that the more you do it, the better. In fact, you can’t do too much photorejuvenation, it’s easy to leave pigmented spots. In any case, from a dermatologist’s point of view, beauty is still good when it is natural. Even if you are born with flaws, such as having freckles on your face, you don’t have to toss it or you will regret it. Finally, I would like to say that we really have some herbal remedies for facial pigmentation, which are obviously not suitable for those two patients mentioned above. We often say that it would be better to have money to donate to Afghan or Iraqi refugees than to toss your face. I hope the majority of women care about inner beauty and stop tossing their faces.
