When patients with liver cancer come to the clinic, they are usually seen by physicians in accordance with our Primary Liver Cancer Treatment Protocol (2017 Edition). The treatment plan is individualized based on patients who are first detected with liver cancer or who have been treated for various types of liver cancer.
First-time patients
First-time patients are first diagnosed with a clear diagnosis of primary liver cancer.
The patient’s tumor status (number, size, vascular invasion, distant metastases), liver function Child-Pugh grade, and physical status score are used to stage the liver cancer and ultimately select the treatment plan that best fits the patient’s condition.
Patients already seen
If the patient has already been treated by other methods, the effect of the previous treatment and recovery from treatment-related side effects need to be evaluated first; then the patient’s tumor will be restaged and the best subsequent option will be selected.
Cautions
Along with the treatment of liver cancer, the patient’s hepatitis virus replication needs to be noted and aggressive antiviral therapy given if necessary.
In addition, the patient’s liver function needs to be noted and aggressive symptomatic treatment for liver protection is given.
