What is MT

MT means metastatic tumor, meaning that this part of the tumor is metastasized from somewhere else, not the primary tumor. Therefore, it belongs to stage IV in clinical staging, which is advanced stage. If you want to cure it is almost impossible, you can only try to control the tumor and prolong the patient’s life. The treatment at this time is mainly based on systemic therapy, such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, etc. At this time, the treatment plan should be decided according to the location of the primary tumor, the type of pathology and the general condition of the patient. For individual tumors, if MT is a single tumor that can be removed by surgery, the patient may also have the possibility of long-term survival. For example, kidney cancer with single lung metastasis or colorectal cancer with single liver metastasis or lung metastasis may have long-term survival through surgical resection.
