Superficial varicose veins of the lower extremities are divided into primary and secondary superficial varicose veins of the lower extremities. It is a common disease, mostly seen in young adults. Congenital weakness of the vein wall and venous valve malfunction are important causes of the disease. The main pathological manifestations are the lack of muscle fibers, collagen fibers and elastic fibers in the middle layer of the vein wall and the lack of muscle fascia support around the superficial veins, which cause the weakening of the vein wall and, together with the defective venous valves, the destruction of the protective mechanism against blood reflux, which results in the reflux of large amounts of blood from the deep or proximal veins, i.e., the growth of tortuous veins and the enlargement and thickening of the lumen. In addition, the gravity of blood flow, and any behavior that increases gravity, such as long standing work, heavy physical labor, chronic cough, habitual constipation, etc., can put excessive pressure on the valves, leading to the appearance of varicose veins. Firstly people with congenital weakness of vein walls and venous valve insufficiency are prone to varicose veins. Secondly, any act that increases the gravity can cause the appearance of varicose veins, such as teachers, salesmen, hotel receptionists, etc. who work standing for a long time, heavy physical labor such as farmers, workers, etc., people with chronic diseases that cause long-term chronic cough, various diseases and bad habits that lead to habitual constipation, all these people can make their venous valves bear excessive pressure, leading to the appearance of varicose veins.
