Treatment of duodenal cysts depends on the patient’s condition and the size of the cyst. Small cysts are usually treated conservatively, while large cysts are treated surgically.
Duodenal cysts are usually benign, with the possibility of malignant cysts occurring in rare cases. In cases where the duodenal cyst is stable and relatively small, conservative treatment is usually adopted, i.e., regular review of the condition of the cyst and adjustment of daily habits according to the doctor’s advice.
However, as the disease progresses, duodenal cysts may become larger, which may affect the surrounding tissues. Usually, when the cyst becomes bigger or affects the local tissues, endoscopic or surgical cyst removal will be used to avoid the discomfort and adverse effects of an oversized cyst on the patient.
If a duodenal cyst is diagnosed, early treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
