Breath count is usually referred to as the respiratory rate in clinical practice, and it is unreliable to judge pneumonia by breath count.
Normal people breathe 12-20 times per minute, the number of breaths can only be used as an indicator to evaluate the lung condition, in the clinic also need to be combined with the patient’s symptoms, signs and auxiliary examination to determine pneumonia.
Pneumonia can be caused by a variety of factors, including viruses, bacteria and mycoplasma. Some patients with pneumonia may have symptoms of increased respiratory rate. Diseases that cause increased respiratory rate can also include fever, anemia, hyperthyroidism, etc. Increased respiratory rate can also occur during emotional excitement and after strenuous exercise. Therefore, it is not possible to judge pneumonia only on the basis of the number of breaths.
If the patient is not feeling well, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital in time to avoid delaying the condition.
