What is angioplasty

Angioplasty uses mechanical methods to reshape the diseased vessels, and is a minimally invasive procedure that restores the blood supply through balloon dilation and stenting to restore the normal diameter of the stenosed or entrapped vessels. Carotid angioplasty includes the following types: 1. internal carotid artery dissection: open surgery, incision of the diseased vessel, traumatic, long recovery time after surgery, relatively low cost; 2. carotid artery stenting: minimally invasive surgery, less traumatic, normal recovery the day after surgery, relatively high cost, not suitable for patients with acute and severe stenosis and poor vascular status.
