Rifampicin dosage

Rifampin is the core bactericidal agent in anti-tuberculosis treatment, mainly used for pulmonary tuberculosis, tuberculous pleurisy, tuberculous meningitis, bone tuberculosis and other infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The dosage of rifampicin for adults is 450-600 mg, or 3-4 tablets, once a day, in the morning on an empty stomach. For adults weighing less than 50 kg, 450 mg per day; for adults weighing more than 50 kg, 600 mg per day; for children, 10-20 mg per kg of body weight once a day, also as a single dose in the morning on an empty stomach, depending on body weight. Rifampicin is also used for other infections, such as carriers of Neisseria meningitidis, at 5 mg per kg body weight at 12-hour intervals.
