The treatment of subthyroiditis has two aspects: relief of local symptoms and treatment of abnormal thyroid function. Subarachnoiditis is an immune disease of the thyroid gland caused by a viral infection. Early manifestations include sore throat, fever, palpitations, fatigue, and weakness. For those with mild symptoms, antiviral drugs and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used clinically to relieve the fever and reduce the pain caused by thyroid tissue hyperplasia. If necessary, glucocorticoid therapy can be given to those with more severe symptoms to provide rapid relief. For more severe symptoms, medications to lower the heart rate and relieve thyroid virus symptoms are also given. If the patient is hypothyroid, thyroid preparations may be used to prevent exacerbation. If the condition is severe, thyroid hormone replacement may be used, and if the patient has permanently reduced thyroid function, long-term treatment is required.
