Recently, Italian researchers summarized the world distribution of glomerular diseases through an extensive literature, the results of which were published in the journal. In the United States, published articles showing 5 years of kidney biopsies from the Midwest and South indicate that IgA nephropathy is the most common glomerular disease, accounting for 22% of cases; in second place is lupus nephritis, accounting for 13%. IgA nephropathy is also a common cause of end-stage renal disease. However, in Latin America, such as Brazil, segmental glomerulosclerosis is the most common primary glomerular disease, accounting for 25% of cases. Other published articles show that in Europe such as Italy IgA nephropathy is the most common primary glomerular disease, accounting for 37%; in Asia such as China IgA nephropathy is the most common primary glomerular disease, accounting for 45%, followed by lupus nephritis, accounting for 54%. Overall, the distribution of different glomerular diseases in each country, about half of the glomerular diseases were performed with renal biopsy, which shows that renal biopsy plays an important role in confirming the diagnosis of glomerular diseases.
