1. Our relationship with our children is influenced by the relationship between our parents and us. 2. How our parents treat us is how we treat our children. 3. When there is a problem in our relationship, our children will come to the rescue. 4. The trauma we experience with our parents is usually borrowed from our children to heal. 5. The needs we don’t get met at our parents will go to our children for them. 6. Our unfulfilled wishes, desires and dreams are borrowed from our children to be realized. 7. The most important part of running a parent-child relationship is for parents to divorce their own lives from their children’s lives, for parents to run their own lives, and for parents to help their children realize their lives, rather than borrowing their children’s lives to realize their parents’ lives.
