Lung cancer: Don’t mistake the disease for camouflage

Secretary Zhao retired from the post within a few days to feel wrong, the problem in his two nipples. At first, he found some swelling of the nipples, he did not care, but gradually the swelling became more and more obvious, and can squeeze out the milky liquid to. This time he was a little anxious, how can a man’s nipples flow out of a woman’s milk? From then on, he began to go in and out of large and small hospitals, and finally received a diagnosis in a large hospital: lung cancer.
Once the diagnosis came out, not only the director himself, even the doctor in the health room is also baffled. It is really mysterious, how lung cancer is linked to papillomatosis? In fact, it is not mysterious at all, it is just a mask of lung cancer – cancer cells cause increased secretion of prolactin. Of course, this is a rare case, which can confuse some inexperienced doctors and cause misdiagnosis, and “non-insiders” like Secretary Zhao, who do not know medical knowledge, are naturally more likely to be deceived.
It is true that the common symptoms of lung cancer are mainly stubborn cough and bloody sputum, but do not forget that this is a kind of malignant tumor that likes to play some tricks, often using masks to confuse people and avoid medical strikes. According to the observation of cancer experts, nipple lesion is only one of its common masks, and there are 5 other masks that people should be alert to.
Mr. Xi, a reputable lawyer, had just recently celebrated his 50th birthday. The day after his birthday, the left side of his limbs suddenly became immobile, and was diagnosed with cerebral infarction by the hospital’s cranial CT examination, and had to be admitted to the hospital.
It turned out that the culprit of the danger to Mr. XI was lung cancer, and the stroke was just another mask of lung cancer. How can lung cancer be associated with stroke? One of the reasons is that the coagulation factors of patients in the early stage of lung cancer increase, which puts the body in a high coagulation state and induces cerebral thrombosis, thus causing stroke attack; in addition, the metastasis of lung cancer cells to brain tissue, which damages brain function and makes patients appear hemiplegic, is also a factor.
Information from the front line of clinical practice shows that it is not uncommon for lung cancer to play such tricks, accounting for about 16% of all lung cancer cases. This suggests that in the diagnosis and treatment of acute stroke, it is important not to miss the chest X-ray to prevent the real culprit from slipping through the net.
  ”Frozen shoulder”
Ms. Zhang, who works for a company, has always been in good health. In the past month, she began to have pain in her left shoulder and her left hand was restricted and could not be raised. The factory doctor learned that she was already 53 years old and gave her a diagnosis of “fifty shoulders”. The so-called “fifty shoulders”, medically known as frozen shoulder, is common in middle-aged people around 50 years old, more women than men, and is caused by trauma, chronic strain, and chronic sterile inflammation caused by wind, cold and dampness. Most of them are treated by acupuncture and physiotherapy.
But surprisingly, Ms. Zhang’s frozen shoulder was not effective even though she was treated according to the above-mentioned methods, and symptoms such as cough, chest pain, blood in the sputum and weight loss appeared one after another. She was forced to go to the pulmonary department of the hospital and was diagnosed with lung cancer after repeated examinations, and it was already at an advanced stage, so she lost the chance of surgery.
The reason for Ms. Zhang’s tragedy was that she fell for the mask of lung cancer – the cancer lesion was hidden in the left lung tip, which invaded the brachial plexus nerve and caused shoulder and arm pain, which was very similar to “fifty shoulders”, resulting in misdiagnosis and mistreatment and delaying the disease. The lesson of this case is profound, and we should take it as a warning that when shoulder and arm pain occur, we should not easily make the diagnosis of “fifty shoulders” unless you can exclude the existence of lung cancer.
  ”Joint pain”
According to medical literature, there are many cases of lung cancer with joint pain as a mask, accounting for 10-20% of cases, and the symptoms are very much like rheumatoid arthritis. This is a typical example of a retired worker, Uncle Zhou, who was treated for “arthritis” in a private clinic. Zhou’s “arthritis” has been treated for nearly 3 months, but the condition has not been reduced at all, in his son’s persuasion into a large and prestigious hospital, the conclusion soon came out – Zhou is suffering from lung cancer, after surgery to remove the tumor, he After the surgery to remove the tumor, his “arthritis” was also cured.
Engineer Liu, who is the same age as Uncle Zhou, had a similar problem. He has always been physically fit, but in the past two months, the ends of the fingers of his two hands have become thick, like drumsticks, with mild pain. Unlike Uncle Zhou, he was lucky enough to meet a pulmonary specialist on his first visit to the doctor. After careful examination, a walnut-sized mass behind the patient’s heart was found and timely surgery was performed.
What these two cases have taught us is that some lung cancers first “attack” at the bone and joint, causing symptoms such as bone and joint enlargement, swelling, pain, and pestle-like fingers (toes), which easily “attract” the patients’ and even doctors’ attention to “arthritis”. “But when the tests for joint disease are negative and the treatment for rheumatoid or rheumatoid arthritis is ineffective, it is important not to forget to check the lungs to prevent lung cancer from getting through.
  ”Back and leg pain”
Mr. Ke, a writer who is in his “prime”, was diagnosed with “lumbar disc herniation” in many hospitals 3 months ago due to low back pain that spread to the front and outside of the right thigh and the outside of the right calf, but the treatment was repeatedly ineffective. Later, he was transferred to a large hospital in the provincial capital, and his condition had developed to the stage of cough, bloody sputum, wasting and even bed-ridden. After asking him about his long history of smoking, he was given a transthoracic X-ray and CT scan of the lung, and the truth finally came out – lung cancer with spinal metastasis.
The lesson from this case is that we should fully understand the diversity of clinical manifestations of lung cancer.
  Hoarse voice
Mr. Guo had been standing on the podium of an elementary school for nearly 30 years and was preparing to retire to spend his old age in peace. However, he had been suffering from hoarseness and difficulty in speaking for some time. At first, I did not take it seriously, thinking that it was just an occupational disease of teachers, taking some grass coral throat tablets, Golden Voice Throat, plus rest, can make the voice “revive the masculine”. But things did not develop in the direction Guo expected, but became heavier and heavier, and had to go into the hospital quintuplegia. After detailed examination, the doctor found that there was no problem with the vocal cords, but the culprit was the metastatic lesions of lung cancer compressing the laryngeal nerve. Since the metastatic lesions of lung cancer appear early and grow faster than the primary lesions, the first thing that appears is hoarseness without the “appearance” of lung symptoms such as cough and bloody sputum, which is most likely to give people an illusion.
In addition to the above six masks, lung cancer can also have various masks such as muscle weakness, dermatomyositis, anorexia, long-term persistent hyperthermia, anemia with wandering embolic phlebitis, etc., which are often dazzling and confusing. These masks are collectively referred to as the extra-pulmonary manifestations of lung cancer, which can be summarized as the following four aspects.
1, pulmonary osteoarthropathy, manifested as joint enlargement, periosteal hypertrophy, and pestle finger (as in the case of the aforementioned Uncle Zhou and Worker Liu).
2, gynecomastia, and even milk flow (as in the case of Secretary Zhao).
3, Cushing’s syndrome, the patient’s face, neck, buttocks fat, and in the case of women can grow a beard.
4.Unexplained edema, protein in urine, etc.
As for why lung cancer has extra-pulmonary symptoms, experts attribute it to the influence of a hormone secreted by cancer cells, which is also called ectopic hormone secretion syndrome. It is an early signal of lung cancer and an important basis for early diagnosis, but it may also be a “trick” that disturbs our vision, the key lies in whether we have a pair of “golden eyes” that are good at recognizing the true and false.
