The main component of lard is animal fat, and there is no clinical research data to show that lard can play a role in eliminating tissue swelling. If a patient falls during activity and causes local soft tissue injury, applying lard will not only not reduce local swelling and pain, but may cause progressive increase in swelling symptoms. If the wound is accompanied by skin breakdown or active bleeding, applying lard to reduce swelling may cause the bacteria and viruses in the lard to enter the wound and aggravate the wound infection. Clinically, patients with local swelling need to reduce the local swelling symptoms only by taking oral swelling and pain relief pills, blood circulation and blood stasis pills and local ice. Patients with obvious swelling need to go to the hospital as soon as possible to improve the CT and ultrasound examination, do not blindly handle to avoid delaying the patient’s condition.
