What is the procedure for appendicitis surgery

Appendicitis surgery belongs to relatively simple abdominal surgery, its process can not be simply summarized, the general procedure is as follows. Appendicitis surgery is usually performed under subdural or epidural anesthesia. The incision is made in the right lower abdominal area at the point of the Maier’s point, and is usually made either obliquely or transversally. After incising the abdominal cavity, the appendix is searched for, and a gauze pad is used to push the small bowel to the inside. After finding the cecum, the appendix can be traced along the colonic band to the tip of the cecum. After finding the appendix, the appendix is clamped with an appendiceal forceps or the appendiceal mesentery is clamped with a hemostatic forceps, and then the appendix is lifted out of the abdominal incision for resection. When dealing with the root of the appendix, the appendix is gently clamped with forceps and then ligated with silk thread, the appendix is removed at the distal end of the ligature, the stump is sterilized and treated, and then buried in the wall of the cecum with purse-string sutures, and then covered and reinforced with the appendiceal mesentery and the nearby fat and connective tissue. The abdominal wall and skin are then closed one by one and the operation is completed.
