How to deal with ingrown nails on your own

Ingrown nails may be caused by improper nail trimming, excessive extrusion, nail deformity, etc. If the symptoms are mild, patients can treat them by themselves through the use of cotton wool, the tape method, the splint method, dental floss, and so on. However, ingrown nails are not recommended to be treated by themselves to avoid adverse consequences.

1. Degreasing cotton: patients can make a small cotton ball of degreasing cotton and put it between the embedded splint and the adjacent nail groove to separate the soft tissue from the nail plate and achieve the therapeutic effect.

2. Tape method: patients can stick one end of the tape on the nail fold of the embedded side, and wrap the remaining part of the other side around the toes, using tension to reduce the pinch shaft arm of the splint extrusion to achieve the therapeutic effect.

3. Splinting: patients can also embed the lateral edge of the nail plate into a small section of the infusion tube that is thrown away to achieve the purpose of separating the surrounding soft tissues from the nail plate.

4. Dental floss: Dental floss can be used instead of a small cotton ball around the nail groove and the nail plate, and finally the floss is fixed on the toe belly to achieve the purpose of separating the surrounding soft tissues and splint.

If the condition of ingrown toenail is too serious, you should go to the hospital in time to seek medical treatment, after diagnosis under the guidance of the doctor, so as not to delay the condition.
