What are the two common methods of dimpleoplasty?

1.Subcutaneous ligation method ① Draw a short line 3~5mm long at the fixed point of the face, and stab a small hole at the upper and lower end of the short line with a sharp knife. In the intraoral buccal mucosa opposite to the fixed point of the face, make a small vertical incision 3mm long. (ii) A straight needle with a No. 5 fine silk thread is pierced from the upper end of the small incision on the intraoral buccal mucosa and passed through the end of the thread at the fixed point on the cheek skin. (③) The same needle and thread is re-pricked into the skin from the same exit point and travels 3 mm in the subcutaneous dermis, and then passes through the lower end of the skin fixation line. Thereafter, it is threaded into the skin a second time from the second penetration point and finally through the lower end of the small incision in the buccal mucosa inside the mouth. ④Drawing the needle and thread If a dimple appears at the skin fixation point of the cheek, the silk thread can be ligated inside the mucosal incision to make the skin dermis adhere to the buccal mucosa. ⑤ A stitch is placed at the small incision of the buccal mucosa inside the mouth. 2.Intraoral incision method ①Make a small 8 mm transverse incision in the intraoral buccal mucosa at the opposite of the preoperative selected fixed point. ② Separate the small incision with small curved hemostatic forceps to expose the buccal muscle fibers. (③Clamp the buccal muscle fibers inside the incision with tissue forceps first (pay attention to any twitching of the facial muscles when clamping to avoid damaging the facial nerve fibers), and then cut the clamped muscle fibers with curved scissors. ④ A small curved needle with a fine silk thread is used to close the intraoral buccal mucosa with a stitch in the subcutaneous dermis at the cheek fixation point. ⑤ Finally, the intraoral wound is sutured closed. This method may damage the facial nerve or parotid duct, so care must be taken during surgery.
