In patients with small breasts and tight skin, a mammogram is often not possible. This is because the mammogram requires the breast to be clamped up to a certain thickness so that it can be visualized. Flat-chested people who can’t have a mammogram have no choice but to have other tests for breast cancer screening, such as a breast ultrasound and a breast MRI. If there are tiny calcifications in the gland, they still need to be examined by mammography to be seen, and MRI will not be able to see these tiny calcifications.
