Is there a high recurrence rate of chocolate cysts

The five-year recurrence rate for endometriosis is about 40%, and the annual recurrence rate is about 20%. Chocolate cysts are endometriosis of the ovaries, and the chance of annual recurrence in this group of patients is around 20%. In order to prevent recurrence in this group of patients, even after she has undergone surgery, she should still be informed of the chances and possibilities of recurrence, and some measures and treatments should be taken to prevent recurrence. If the patient wants to have children, she has to quickly try to solve the problem of fertility before recurrence. We will do an intraoperative evaluation to look at the score of the chocolate cysts, and based on her score and fertility function, we will determine whether she should get pregnant naturally with postoperative medication or go directly to this stage of assisted reproductive technology. If she doesn’t have fertility requirements, or if she’s done having children and doesn’t plan to have any more, the main goal after surgery is to prevent her from having a recurrence. After the operation, we usually use injections for 3-6 months, depending on the condition, the duration of the medication is different, and we regularly review some indicators of recurrence, whether there is dysmenorrhea, blood tests to check the level of CA125, and regular ultrasound to clarify whether there is a recurrence of ovarian chocolate cysts, and so on.
