When to take the hand, foot and mouth vaccine

The HFMD vaccine is usually administered to children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, but the exact timing of the vaccination needs to be considered in light of the child’s physical condition. HFMD is a common infectious disease caused by enteroviruses, and is mainly found in infants and children from 6 months to 5 years of age. The antibodies carried by the infant from the mother’s body are still strong until 6 months of age, but they slowly weaken after 6 months. Therefore, the HFMD vaccine can be considered at this time, and the earlier the vaccination, the better to provide timely protection to children. A total of two doses of HFMD vaccine are required, with an interval of at least one month, and it is encouraged to complete the two doses within one week of age. Because the incidence of HFMD is lower in children over the age of 5, HFMD vaccination is usually not recommended for children over the age of 5. In addition, children who receive the HFMD vaccine need to pay attention to their hygiene habits and healthy diet, eat more vegetables and fruits, and avoid cold and spicy foods in order to avoid adverse reactions after vaccination.
