What are the treatments for urinary stones?

Urolithiasis (also called urolithiasis) is a frequent and common disease in urology in China, especially in the southern region. Urolithiasis is a chronic and highly recurrent disease with severe symptoms, recurrent attacks and damage to kidney function, which is a serious threat to health. There are many treatment methods for urinary stones, such as conservative drug lithotripsy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopic lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy, open surgery lithotripsy and drug lithotripsy. Each of these methods has its own optimal scope of application and most of them are not interchangeable. The choice of treatment plan should be based on the characteristics of the patient’s condition to determine an optimal treatment modality. In general, hospitals or informal hospitals cannot include all these modern urinary stone treatment methods due to their limitations, and the treatment cannot be scientific and reasonable. Some units and individuals, in order to pursue economic interests and retain patients, over-hype the effectiveness of one of their treatments, even with some deceptive, often delaying the disease and over-treatment, causing physical and economic losses to patients. At the same time, about 70% of urinary stones will recur after cure, so how to prevent stone recurrence becomes one of the most important concerns of patients.
