Can Insulin Cause Kidney Failure

Insulin does not cause kidney failure. Insulin is a hypoglycemic hormone secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas, a hypoglycemic substance normally present in the blood of normal people, and insulin is the only hypoglycemic hormone in the body. When insulin secretion is insufficient or defective in action due to various reasons, it will lead to abnormal glucose metabolism, and in serious cases, diabetes will be formed. Insulin is a very effective way to control blood sugar in diabetic patients. Insulin treatment requires the selection of an appropriate insulin treatment plan under the guidance of a doctor, depending on the patient’s age, weight, blood sugar, and type of diabetes. Patients who use insulin may experience side effects such as hypoglycemia, weight gain, insulin allergy, and fat atrophy at the insulin injection site. However, insulin does not cause kidney damage, much less kidney failure. However, diabetes can be complicated by diabetic nephropathy, which can lead to kidney failure in severe cases.
