What to do about intestinal obstruction caused by postoperative gastric cancer

If intestinal obstruction occurs after gastric cancer surgery, it can be treated conservatively in the first place, and in severe cases, surgery is required.

If it is benign intestinal obstruction due to intestinal adhesions and other reasons, it can be treated by non-surgical methods, such as water fasting, fluid replacement, gastrointestinal decompression, and enema with some gastrointestinal motility drugs, etc. Generally, the symptoms will be reduced or relieved within 1 to 2 days. If it lasts more than 48 hours, surgery can be considered as early as possible. If the intestinal obstruction is due to tumor recurrence, it still requires active surgical management.
